Author’s Note.

Also, leave me a comment whenever you have a new chapter posted up this way I can check it out as soon as possible! Thanks. Enjoy!

“Austin! Where are you? You’re breakfast is ready, you’re going to be late for school!” I stepped into Austin’s room and caught him playing video games on the computer. “Austin! What are you doing? You’re not even dressed for school yet, and why is your room such a mess? I thought I had told you to clean up.” Austin was concentrated with his video game and paid me no attention. I sighed, stepping out of the room and shaking my head.

I thought it was about time Jeffrey was introduced to the rest of the family. Patricia had the chance to spend time with him, but I thought it’d be nice for everyone to meet each other. I invited Jeffrey for dinner and he happily accepted. I was afraid that there would be awkward silences, but everything turned out well. Jeffrey had entered casually and one by one greeted every child. Everyone sat down at the diner table to enjoy the freshly cooked meal I had prepared. We talked about lite subjects. I mentioned that I had transferred jobs (again) because my boss was giving me a hard time. Patricia talked about her daily job at the spa, and by the reaction on Jeffrey’s face, I figured that he had no idea about Patricia not being in school. I got nervous, but the subject quickly changed when Austin brought up the new cool toy I had bought him. Throughout the whole night, however, Joshua stayed quiet. He ate peacefully never mentioning anything.

Jeffrey and Austin got along great. Austin was the type to make funny faces, play games, and invent stories. Jeffrey seemed to understand his childish games and always played along.

Joshua’s Point of View

After eating supper I retreated to my room. I liked Jeffrey, I really did. But I had nothing to tell him. I was in my room, laying down on my bed with my earphones to the max. I hadn’t heard the knocking at my door and the next thing I knew, Jeffrey was walking in. Gosh I hate when people walk in without permission. Might as well just barge in! Anyways, I took out only one of my earphones to hear what was going on. Jeffrey took a seat next to me. Now this was getting awkward. He broke the silence.

“Was your mom always sucha great cook?”

Oh boy, this is going to be long. “Uh, yeah, I guess.”

Really uncomfortable, I got up and went towards my fish bowl. I grabbed the fish food and started spraying it into the water. Jeffrey looked over and asked, “You had that fish for a while?”

“Yeah, since I was a kid.”

“That’s great. What’s his name?”

“You know, I once had a rabbit and he saw me grow up! His name was Wizard.”

I just nodded in response. I didn’t mean to be rude, but I so didn’t want to be having this conversation. I hate that. You know those kinds of conversation that lead to know where and are just used to fill up silence. God, I hate that. I really do.

Patricia’s Point of View

Ok, so this is probably the first time I ever step foot in a library. Can’t tell anyone about that huh. Anyways, I was here only to use their printer. I had found myself a small hands-down job at this bar and this week I was in charge of making the advertising posters. I could have told my boss I had no printer, and the slowest computer of all time, but I figured I’d just be embarrassing myself. So here I was, in the library making an advertisement that I didn’t want to do but still ended up working on.

I had went to the second floor of the library in a dark corner in hope that no one would see me. You know how embarrassing it is to be in a library? Well, it is for me. I was focused on my project that I hadn’t noticed someone standing in front of my desk. I looked up at him, probably gave him a pretty dirty stare and looked back to my computer screen.

I found him super annoying, so hurried up on finishing my paper and printed a bunch of copies. The printer was slow so I grabbed a magazine and sat at a table further down. I flipped through the pages of my book, simply looking at the pictures. Across from me, the same boy from before, came and sat on the other side of the desk.

“What’re you reading?” I hesitated and then lowered my magazine.

“Nothing,” I answered dully.

He grinned and nodded. I couldn’t just go back to my book with him just staring straight at me, so I asked him what he was reading. Not that I actually cared. He answered me, pleased by the idea of my asking. “Abstract, Architecture, and Art.”

“Cool” I got up, passed by the printer and noticed only half the papers were done. I sighed to myself. I wanted to get out of this place and this stupid printer was taking forever.

I went to sit outside on the libraries balcony. I was deep in thought when the same guy sat next to me.

“I was wondering, do you like art?” He said in a happy-go-lucky tone.

“Ok, listen buddy I don’t know who your are but what is it that you want?” I asked him. I have to admit I sounded pretty rude but I swear I didn’t mean to sound like that. I actually felt bad right after saying that.

“Oh excuse me for making conversation!”

I felt bad. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to sound rude. And to answer your question, I guess I do like art. To a certain point. You?”

“You gotta love art. Art is creativity and creativity is the heart to someone’s soul!”

I paused at his statement. I was thinking over what he had said until he interrupted my thoughts (again). “Okay, so that was a little deep. All in all, yeah I like art.”

“What kinda stuff you do? Paint, draw? I don’t know..”

He chuckled, “Yeah I do ‘stuff’. I guess I can do a bit of everything, but I like painting. Big paintings you know. My favorites are graffiti though. By the way, what’s your name?”

“Patricia. You can call me Patty. You?”

“Hunter. Nice to meet you.”

Joshua’s Point of View

I hate Saturdays. What am I suppose to do? I tried keeping myself as busy as I possibly could but I was bored out of my mind. I have a bunch of homework, but that kinda stuff isn’t my thing. I just stuck around in my room the whole day. I practiced a few tunes on my guitar but I couldn’t do that the whole day. I tried doing homework but I gave up on them. Instead, I pulled out one of my comic books and started reading away.

After reading a few comic books, I decided I had to leave this house. I had to leave this room. I didn’t really have much friends to go out with, so I grabbed my guitar and went in town. I don’t really know where I was getting at with all this. I wanted to escape the silence of my own room, but from another point of view, I didn’t want to be swarmed in a crowd of people. That’s how I ended up at the beach.

I started strumming my guitar. It was a little after supper so the beach was completely deserted. The only sound came from the waves and my guitar chords.

I thought I was alone, until I noticed a few people around the beach tapping their foot along with the sound of my music. I have to admit, I was shy. Real shy. I wanted to leave, go back and hide in my room. But I didn’t. I few more people gathered around me and were all humming along with my music. I actually liked it. I played them another song, happy to see that I was entertaining people. It was getting late though, and because there are no lights on the beach, it was getting pretty dark too. Slowly people started to leave the beach. I too, packed up my guitar and went back home. Only, this time, I was satisfied with what I had done.

Austin’s Point of View

I spent my weekends outside most the time. Mom didn’t really care. I told her my homework was done, even if they weren’t and she would let me go out and stuff. At school, I had a fight with my best friend Timmy, so now it gets kinda boring on the weekends. I don’t have anyone to play with anymore, but it was his fault not mine.

Anyways, I went to Central Park because of the good weather. I wanted to find a new friend. I wanted to get Timmy jealous too. I was walking around Central Park, minding my own business. Where are all the kids in this town? I didn’t really like living in Sunset Valley. This place is just filled with old, gossiping people. No adventure here. I had stopped near a pond where some teenager was fishing. I was in the moon, not paying attention to what was going on around me. Instead, I imagined myself being one of those fishes in the pond. I must have lost track of time, because the teenager was standing next to me and now asking if I wanted to try fishing with him. I found fishing boring. I can’t just stand there and wait. Instead, I asked him to play tag. Surprisingly he agreed. And let me tell you he was fast. He’s so much more fun than Timmy! I’ll just have to tell Timmy.

Patricia’s Point of View

Finishing my jogging, I headed into the house, grabbed a snack in the fridge and made my way towards the shower. I was in the bathroom when I heard my phone ringing. Hurrying to pick it up in time, I answered with a warm, “hello”. I didn’t recognize the voice on the other side. I asked who was speaking.

The other voice seemed amused, “You don’t recognize me do you?”

“No I don’t. If this is some stupid joke well give it up.” I was about to hang up, but the person on the other end of the line spoke up.

“Wait wait! This isn’t a joke! It’s me, Hunter!”

It took me a second to assemble all the pieces. I forgot I had given him my phone number. When he had asked for it, it never crossed my mind that he would actually bother calling back.

“Oh, uh, hey.” I answered, still shock and confused. Why the hell was he calling me?

“Listen, you probably thought I was a pain in the ass the other day at the library, but I’m not actually like that. Well not all the time, anyway. But uh, I don’t know, I was thinking maybe we can go out somewhere? Like as friends you know. Just for fun, nothing more?”

I sighed, not knowing what to answer. I wasn’t necessarily busy, but I felt at ease in the comfort of my home. Not answering, Hunter spoke up.

“You know what, never mind. I didn’t mean to bother you, and anyways we don’t even know each other. I’ll cya around, I guess.”

Before he hung up, I spoke up, “Wait!” I wasn’t thinking. I don’t know why I just didn’t wait another split second until he hung up. Instead, I caught myself off guard and trying to think of something to say. After a few second, I said in the telephone, “You weren’t that annoying by the way. And, I’mΒ  not doing anything right now, so I wouldn’t mind going out for a bit.”

I met Hunter at the Art Gallery. Yes that was his choice and not mine. When I met him on the sidewalk he right away gave me a friendly hug. To be honest, I felt kind’ve awkward seeing as I didn’t even know the guy. I guess that’s just the way he greets people.

When we entered the Art Gallery, I was surprised by the silence that filled the room. Different types of art were hung around all over the place. Statues and structures were kept to the far end of the room. Paintings were hung next to drawings and then came the photography. In the center of the gallery, there were old antiques that meant something to the culture. Art was never really my thing, but I was pretty curious to everything around me. I just hated how neat everything was. You’d think you were in the house of some rich old lady. Oh well, I still enjoyed looking around at everything. We went to the second floor, to find more artistic pieces. I spoke a little above a whisper, “Do you come here often?”

“Actually, yeah, I do. One day, I’ll create something and it’ll be hung up here.”

I laughed to myself and looked at the painting in front of me, ending the conversation. Hunter kept his stare on me, however. Speaking a bit louder now he said, “You don’t believe me, do you?”

“Well, no, I mean, I do. I hope for you that your dream does come true.”

“But you don’t think it’ll happen?”

“I don’t know, I’ve never seen you do anything artsy. I don’t even know what kind of art you do!”

I saw how this was emotionally hurting him. Pfft, sensitive much? Therefore, I turned the subject into a bit of a joke, wanting him to cool down. “Hey for all I know, you can only draw stick figures and finger paint!” I nudged his side with my elbow and seeing him smile sure was reassuring.

By the time we exited the Art Gallery, the sun had started setting. There was a fresh wind blowing through my hair and I felt goosebumps appear on my arms. Should’ve brought a damn sweater. I was planning to take a cab back home, so while waiting for the taxi to arrive, Hunter offered waiting with me. We talked a little more in the cold breeze. Finally the taxi came and pulled over right in front of the sidewalk. Before leaving, I thanked Hunter for everything. “You know, I actually had a good time today.” I smiled up at him.

“You seem surprised?” He answered back, grinning; exposing his perfect white teeth.

I laughed in exchange, “Oh yeah, can’t believe I had a good time with someone like you!”

He hugged me once more and as I got into the cab he said, “Have a good night.”

(Quick, Behind-the-scenes)

Thought I’d share a few of these pictures with you! Little way for you to keep up with what’s going on with the Auburns!

Of course Joshua would faint at the arrival of the burglar ! Ha ha !

– Ps. Let me know how you liked the different points of view

I like getting to see what’s going on in the kid’s lives, especially since someday soon we’ll be reading their story. If you’re planning on doing an heir poll, this is a helpful chapter for me!

I can’t wait to see how Patty’s relationship evolves, she doesn’t seem to keen on this guy. Austin’s teenage friend kinda looks like a ghoul O.o There’s something I like about the introverted Josh, I hope he comes out of his shell a bit more but I can’t say I blame him for his reaction to Jeffrey.

    • auburn101 says:

Hey Chellekaz! Thanks so much for reading and commenting! I also enjoyed going through the kids’ point of view, it was different from the usual. I’m unsure if I’ll be doing a heir poll, however. I have an idea in mind on who I want to be the next heir, but I’m still debating on the idea. Who’s your favorite so far? πŸ™‚

  2. Izzi456 says:

I did, but I’m guessing you did this because this is almost the end of Gen 1 πŸ™‚

And I really like your writing, but I have one teeny tiny suggestion for you (you siriusly don’t have to take it, only if you wanna). So the title of the chapters…I…I don’t know, I find it kind of weird that you underline/bold/italisize it. I think you should let us find it πŸ™‚ maybe…you really don’t have to take my advice….

Anywho, I loved this chapter and I can’t wait for if you have an heir vote, because I think I’ll vote for Patricia, or Joshua.

    • auburn101 says:

Hey Izzi! I appreciate your feedback and advice! I always would underline the titles cause I figured it would be easier to notice! hihi. But I guess you’re right, you should be able to find and notice it on your own. Maybe instead of Bolding it and Underlining it, I’ll just subtly Italicize it hehe. For the heir vote, I’m still debating wether or not to have one. At first I had decided that no, there wouldn’t be any, but now I’m kinda leaning onto the yes, there will be. Anyways, I still have a few chapters to write before having to make a final decision! πŸ˜‰

  3. nestea7 says:

I really liked the different view points. It’s always nice to get inside everyone’s head and see how their life is going. lol.And I know that everyone’s probably said this already, but this is going to really help with the heir votes. I think I’ll either vote for Pat or Josh though since I still don’t really know how Aaron is that well. Oh, and I loved the bloopers btw. =]
ps: Thanks for commenting on my story. I appreciate it. =]

  4. elizabeth says:

I like the different POV’s. πŸ™‚ I really want to see more of Hunter, he’s so quirky and weird, but in a good way.
Joshua would be interesting too, cause of the guitar and all.
    Great chapter! πŸ™‚

  5. AllyAce says:

I like this chapter! Shows alot about the kids, and I love that kind of chapter. Also, I agree with Izzi456 about the chapter title. I actually find myself looking for it, and then it’s right there. It’s cool that you do that though, it gives us something to look for. Also, I’m liking Hunter and Patty; they’re soo cute! I think im leaning toward Patty for the heir..

    • auburn101 says:

Hey Ally! Yeah, I’ve definitely considered what Izzi has mentioned, and I’ll keep it in mind for my future chapters! I really love getting this kind of feedback from my readers. Itgives me something to look forward to the next time I write! Thanks! πŸ™‚

  6. Spongey says:

I really love how Jeff is trying so hard to become part of the family. He’s such a good guy. I love how you did all the points of view πŸ™‚ It lets us get inside each of the sims heads to see what they’re thinking about. Hunter seems like a sweet guy. I wonder where you’re going with that…

Oh, and, I don’t mean to be a bother… but at the beginning of the chapter you said “Aaron” instead of “Austin” πŸ™‚ Like I said, just trying to help you out ^_^

    Great update

    • auburn101 says:

Hey Spongey! Why would you be a bother if your just helping out? teehee, you don’t have to worry about it! πŸ˜‰ I’m glad you mentioned it though seeing as I hadn’t noticed it (Even after re-reading lol) But thank you, and I’ll go change it right now! I’ll have to be more careful next time…

  7. dustydreamer says:

I loved the different point of views! It lets us in on who the kids really are, what there thinking style is like and how they view things.

Joshua is so shy! I love how cute and shy he is. XD He is pretty brave though and I loved that he took it upon himself to do something about feeling bored…and for not leaving the beach when he noticed that others around him were enjoying his music.

Patty has a cynical way of looking at things doesnt she…I hope that she becomes better friends with Hunter..he seems to have alot of ambitions and goals and dreams to accomplish, maybe it will help her realize what she wants to be too, and open her to more.

    • auburn101 says:

Yeah, Patty is pretty cold-shouldered with people she first meets. I find everytime people approach her she doesn’t seem interested and keeps walking away. She just wants to make my job ahrder doesn’t she!?
